Contractors for Highways England are resurfacing almost 4 miles of the northbound A194 (M) from where it leaves the A1 (M) at junction 65 to the Whitemarepool junction, the equivalent of nine football pitches.
Lanes 1 and 2, the hard shoulder and adjacent slip roads will be resurfaced as part of the work which is due to start on Monday 14 September.
Lane and full carriageway closures will be required to set up and remove the contraflow at the beginning and end of the works. Clearly signed diversions will be in place during these periods.
Highways England project manager, Andrew Brown, said:
“We’ll be resurfacing a stretch of motorway covering around 4 miles to provide smoother journeys for drivers.
“Every effort is being made to ensure disruption to traffic and residents is kept to a minimum, and we’ll be using a contraflow system to keep vehicles running in both directions during a mixture of night and weekend closures.”
